Updates

Libraries give teams a central place to create content once and reuse it across courses. Build shared blocks for recurring content, keep linked instances synchronized with their source, or use assessment questions from a library to create fixed and randomized Question Bank assessments.

Reusable blocks across courses

• Create once, reuse anywhere: Add content and assessment blocks to a library, organize them into sections and groups, then insert them into course slides.
• Linked by default: A library block stays connected to its source. Update the source block once and the change flows to every linked course, including previews and exports.
• Course override controls: Choose whether a library is Unlocked, allowing course authors to override content, formatting, and styles without changing the source, or Locked, keeping content centrally controlled while still allowing course-specific formatting and style settings.
• Safe local customization: Course overrides are stored separately from the library source, so one course can adapt a shared block without changing it everywhere else.
• Detach when needed: Convert a linked block into an independent course block whenever it should stop receiving library updates.
• Faster reuse: Search libraries and groups or return to recently used blocks to find shared content quickly.

Question banks

Libraries can also act as a shared source of assessment questions. Add assessment blocks to a library, then create a Question Bank assessment in any course and choose how learners receive questions.

• Manual selection: Pick the exact questions to include and arrange them in the order learners will see.
• Random draw: Set how many questions each learner receives from the full source or from a selected question pool.
• Flexible sources: Combine questions from multiple libraries and narrow each source to specific library groups.
• Reusable assessment content: Maintain questions in organized libraries and refresh a Question Bank source when the library content changes.

Why it matters

Libraries reduce duplicate authoring and make multi-course maintenance much safer. Teams can keep policies, product explanations, onboarding content, branded elements, and assessment questions in one reusable source while still deciding how much freedom each course author should have.

Course localization now covers more than text. Authors can replace media assets per language from the same localization workflow, so each locale can use the right screenshots, videos, narration, PDFs, and resource links.

What's new

• New Assets tab: The localization panel now includes a dedicated Assets tab alongside Content and System Labels.
• Per-locale media overrides: Select a target locale and replace the source asset for that language only. Leaving a field empty keeps the default course asset.
• Supported asset types: Localize image block images, video sources, video poster images, audio sources, PDF files, resource URLs, and resource file downloads.
• Upload or reuse media: Add a localized asset by pasting a direct URL, uploading a new file, or choosing an existing file from the Media Library.
• Block-by-block organization: Assets are grouped by slide and block, with search so large courses are easier to manage.
• Safe metadata handling: Media IDs, file names, video aspect ratios, and audio durations are preserved where needed for clean playback and export.

Translation workflow support

Text translation updates, AI translation, and XLIFF imports now preserve existing asset overrides. That means translators can keep working on course copy without wiping language-specific media choices already set by an author.

Export behavior

Localized assets are included during package preparation. When exporting a single locale or a multilingual course, ScormStack reads the locale-specific media overrides, bundles the right files, and rewrites asset URLs so the exported package uses the correct assets for each language.

Why it matters

Different languages often need different visuals and files: localized screenshots, translated PDFs, regional compliance documents, voiceovers, product images, or country-specific resource links. Asset localization lets teams manage those differences inside one course instead of duplicating the course for every market.

The new Timeline Block is now available in the course editor. Use it to present events, phases, milestones, or process history in a clear sequence that learners can scan, explore, and complete at their own pace.

We added Dynamic SCORM updates for teams that need to keep courses up to date after they have already been uploaded to an LMS. Export the package once, upload it to your LMS, then publish future content, language, and slide changes directly from ScormStack.

What's new

• Two update methods: Choose Manual updates when you want to download and upload a new package for each course change, or Dynamic updates when you want to update the course from ScormStack after the first LMS upload.
• Update current version: When a dynamic SCORM package already exists, the export dialog shows the published version and lets you update it in place.
• Editable version settings: Reopen the settings for a published dynamic package, adjust the language, slide selection, progress tracking, or learner identification, then publish the changes to the current version.
• Translation-ready publishing: Dynamic packages can use one language or all available languages, so content and translation fixes can reach learners without creating a new LMS package.
• Online media by design: Course media stays hosted so images, audio, documents, and other assets can keep changing after the package has been uploaded.
• Versioned learner player: Dynamic packages use a stable learner player while refreshing the course content you publish from ScormStack.

Why it matters

LMS uploads are often controlled by administrators and can slow down small course fixes. Dynamic SCORM updates make the workflow lighter: the LMS keeps the same package, authors keep improving the course, and learners see the latest published version the next time they launch it.

When to use it

Use Dynamic updates for live courses that may need corrections, localization edits, media changes, or slide updates after rollout. Use Manual updates when you need a fully bundled package that does not depend on hosted course content.

We added new audio creation tools so authors can give courses a spoken layer without leaving ScormStack. Generate narration from existing content, create audio from transcripts, or record your own voice directly in the audio block.

What's new

• Text-to-speech narration: Generate audio narration from supported blocks, including slide intros, text blocks, lists, and image blocks with text or captions.
• Voice and language controls: Choose a voice, preview it before generating, and let ScormStack auto-detect the language or select one manually.
• Audio block generation: Turn an audio block transcript into generated narration, then save it as the block's audio source.
• Record audio: Capture audio from your microphone, preview the take, trim the start and end, and save it to the course.
• Built-in playback: Learners can play generated narration from the block, with a compact floating audio player in published courses.

Why it matters

Narration is useful for accessibility, language learning, guided explanations, onboarding, and courses where listening matters as much as reading. Authors can now produce polished audio faster, keep it tied to the course content, and choose between AI-generated speech or their own recorded voice depending on the lesson.

A new Reactions block is now available in the course editor. Capture quick learner sentiment with one-click reactions or star ratings, with optional comments when you need more context.

Feedback Modes

Choose the interaction style that fits your content:

• Reaction mode — learners pick from four built-in responses: like, learned something, outdated, or question
• Rating mode — collect a simple 1 to 5 star rating
• Optional comments — add follow-up comments for ratings, questions, or outdated content

Display And Behavior

Reactions blocks are configurable directly from the block settings:

• Large or compact layouts for both reaction buttons and star ratings
• Custom prompt/title for each block
• Completion and availability rules — show immediately or after previous content, and mark complete on view or click

SCORM And Analytics

Reactions blocks work in preview and SCORM exports, saving selections and comments on resume and feeding dedicated analytics for selections, comments, unique learners, and average ratings.

We added Adaptive learning with Variants and Checkpoints so a single course can branch into different learning paths based on learner results.

What's new

• Variants in the slide editor: Create, edit, color-code, and organize variants from the left panel.
• Required vs optional variants: Mark variants as Required (counts for completion) or Optional (bonus content).
• Slide-level targeting: Assign slide to one or more variants.
• Checkpoint items in course flow: Add checkpoints directly in the slide list and place them between slides

Accessibility and readability

Sidebar now derives sidebar foreground, muted text, borders, and active slide styles from the selected sidebar tone. This keeps navigation readable across light, dark, primary, and accent backgrounds.

We added a new Time Requirements block to help enforce minimum time-on-task in a slide.

Works Everywhere

Table blocks render in both the course builder preview and SCORM/HTML exports. They also support content variables and entrance animations, just like every other block.

SCORM Import

Tables from imported SCORM packages (including Articulate Rise courses) are automatically converted into table blocks, preserving your existing content structure.

Course generation uses Mistral AI models, selected for their strong multilingual capabilities and content quality. Generations consume AI credits based on your subscription plan.

Courses with multiple translations can now be exported as a single multilingual SCORM package. Learners choose their language directly inside the course, no need to maintain separate packages per locale.

Flexible Export Options

When your course has more than one locale, the export dialog gives you three choices:

• Default locale — export only the original language (same behavior as before)
• A specific locale — export the course in one selected translation
• All languages — bundle every available translation into one package

In-Course Language Selector

When exported with multiple languages, learners see a small globe icon in the course player. Clicking it opens a dropdown with all available languages. Switching a language:

• Translates all course content — text blocks, assessments, navigation, captions
• Applies the correct text direction (LTR / RTL) automatically
• Remembers the learner's choice across sessions via local storage

How It Works

Each locale is packaged as a lightweight JSON file alongside the course. When the learner switches language, the runtime merges translations into the course data and reloads — no extra server requests, no external dependencies. The package remains fully self-contained.

Introducing the Slide Navigation Bar – a compact, always-visible navigation control that helps learners track their progress and move through your course with ease.

• Flexible positioning: Choose to display the navigation bar at the top or bottom of the content area, or disable it entirely.

Why it matters

Some courses benefit from persistent navigation controls that don't require scrolling. The Slide Navigation Bar gives learners a clear sense of progress and quick access to prev/next actions – especially useful for longer slides or presentation-style content.

SCORM exports are now asset-complete: the generated ZIP package can include the assets used in your course, so your learners don’t run into broken media in their LMS.

What's new

• Bundled course assets: Images, audio, PDFs, and other uploaded resources are packaged directly into the SCORM ZIP.
• Portable playback: The exported course no longer depends on external asset URLs to render properly.

Why it matters

Many LMS deployments restrict outbound network access or rewrite URLs during import. By shipping a self-contained package, you get more predictable results, easier sharing, and better offline/air‑gapped compatibility.

We added Sections to help you organize your course content into logical groups. Whether you're building a multi-module training or a structured learning path, sections make navigation clearer for both authors and learners.

When a Navigation Button has an enablement condition, all blocks positioned below that button will be automatically hidden until the condition is met.
